Married To A Savage Duke - Chapter 77.2
“If I ask, you’ll respond, right? What if I ask you to drink a penalty?”
When Cade gestured towards the bottle of alcohol, she quickly tilted her head to the side. “Let’s first clarify the question, shall we?” Thinking of buying some time, she clenched her fist on her palm and made a hesitant gesture. “Do you want to kiss me?”
After adding a hint of hope to her question, she received an unrelenting answer.
“I want to have sex with you.”
As if that wasn’t enough, Cade grabbed her wrist and pressed her against his body, teasing her. The heat seeping through the fabric was incredibly hot. Cherryl let out a yelp and pulled her hand away. What an effect sharing a bed had! She was jumping up and down like a startled colt, her face flushed as if she had never experienced something like this.
“Why all of a sudden———”
“Answer me quickly, Cherryl.” Cade urged with an unrelenting tone.
Cherryl exclaimed in chagrin, “Anyone could see us!”
“There’s an empty carriage over there. It’s a luxury carriage I purchased for you.”
“That’s not the issue right now. You’re not supposed to ask such questions in a ‘truth or dare’ game!”
“Didn’t we say that asking difficult questions was an implicit rule?”
“Well, yes, but…”
“Are the rules changing according to your whims?”
“No.” Cherryl retorted in a faltering voice, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
Cade playfully stuck out his tongue and continued to press her. “No, if I knew it was such an unfair game where you could change the rules as you pleased, I wouldn’t have agreed to it.”
If she had listened carefully, she would have noticed the mischievousness in his voice. Unaware of his intentions, Cherryl felt extremely perplexed and turned her gaze straight ahead. In the evening by the riverside, with the melancholic sound of music in the background, she was being bombarded with playful questioning from her husband, feeling both romantic and overwhelmed. As the realization of her actions washed over her, she let out a hollow laugh.
“Fine, I’ll just drink it.”
Defiantly, Cherryl reached for the bottle again, but Cade swiftly took it away as soon as she tilted it. Thanks to that, even though she had only swallowed a few drops, an unpleasant heat filled her throat. It was so intense that her body temperature seemed to rise rapidly, and her mind swirled in a tight whirlwind.
“I don’t want to drink alcohol anymore,” Cherryl covered her face with both hands. Laughter filled with amusement echoed in her ears.
“If you didn’t want to drink, then you shouldn’t have answered,” Cade said.
“I’m not made of steel. I can’t answer that kind of question.”
“It seems that you find even that kind of question difficult.”
It’s rare to find someone who can easily accept such a suggestion. Feeling deflated, Cherryl couldn’t utter a word. She covered her face, avoiding Cade’s gaze as if she believed that by blocking her sight, she could hide like a three-year-old playing hide-and-seek. Seeing her like that, Cade burst into laughter and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her into an embrace. He wanted to nibble on her small body from head to toe.
“Calm down. If I had planned to make you drink, I would have asked a different question.”
“But you made me drink twice already.”
“Didn’t you drink it so willingly the first time?”
“But the game and the fact that you don’t say a word———”
At first, he wanted to let her win. He found her attempt to make him intoxicated endearing, and he wanted to lose just to see her widen her eyes in surprise like a startled rabbit. It was a peculiar sadistic tendency that had developed after meeting Cherryl. Besides, even if he emptied this extremely strong alcohol without leaving a drop, he wouldn’t get intoxicated. Cherryl had no idea that he was using a trick. He couldn’t say that he was taking medication to restrain himself from seducing her, to hold onto his reason and reduce his stamina and that there was a side effect of not getting drunk. Unable to lie, if any question related to that came up, Cade was willing to answer it. If he said that it was the cure taken out of an excessive liking for her, she would understand, wouldn’t she?
“Cade.” Cherryl suddenly raised her head. There was a determined light in her blue eyes. “It’s my turn to ask a question.”
“I’m not going to play the game anymore. I want to do something else.”
Firmly refusing, he placed both of Cherryl’s hands under his arms and lifted her up. Before her feet touched the ground, her disoriented vision spun in mid-air. Holding her tightly against his shoulder, Cade strode forward. It was only after a few steps that Cherryl realized she was being carried in his arms. Startled, she struggled a beat too late, clenched her fist, and hit Cade’s shoulder.
“Put me down. I can walk.”
“Understood.”
“But why aren’t you letting me down?”
“Because I want to hold you.”
With a brief statement, Cade held her tightly. His determination to not let go of her waist was transmitted strongly.
