The Entertainment Industry Waits For Our Divorce - Chapter 130
65th day — Divorce (2)
However, due to Liang Yan’s previous request to remove all kissing scenes, the script for today’s episode changed the intended lip kiss to a kiss on the cheek.
Liang Yan looked at the three words “cheek kiss” in the script and sighed, realizing that it was the only human touch Lu Lincheng had initiated in the past few days.
Peng Peng, a devoted fan of the original novel “Enchanting Immortal,” let out an “Ah!” upon seeing the words “cheek kiss,” and then pouted full of dissatisfaction, saying, “This drama is too tame from start to finish.”
There were no kissing scenes, and the bedroom scene had only one dimly lit lamp. The audience had to rely on their imagination to fill in the details.
However, the original novel “Enchanting Immortal” was not as tame. The conscientious author didn’t gloss over the intimate moments but subtly described several encounters between the Immortal Lord and the young enchantress, using precise and skillful language. Although no explicit terms were used, the scenes were vividly sensual. The Immortal Lord was far from the cold and abstinent figure he appeared to be, while the seemingly bold young enchantress was actually naive and clueless about such matters. The collision of these two characters on the pages had once made many young female readers blush.
Peng Peng looked at Liang Yan’s script and said, “In the original novel, this kiss from the Immortal Lord had me squealing under my covers all night. Changing it to a kiss on the cheek will surely upset the fans of the original novel.”
Liang Yan snatched her script back from Peng Peng’s hands and retorted, “What’s wrong with a kiss on the cheek? It’s still a kiss, hmph.”
Considering the circumstances, getting Lu Lincheng to kiss her cheek was already quite an accomplishment.
After preparing for nearly half an hour following the conclusion of the previous scene, they continued shooting the next scene.
In order to capture the enchantress’s captivating appearance after the fight, which would stir the emotions of the Immortal Lord, Liang Yan went the extra mile and ran a couple of laps on set. She had a slight glisten of sweat on her body and forehead, and her cheeks naturally displayed a delightful rosy hue, without the need for any artificial blush.
As the camera focused on the scene, Lu Lincheng stood waiting. When the director shouted “action,” Liang Yan dashed towards him, calling out, “My dear!”
“Cut,” the director exclaimed.
“Hmm?” Liang Yan had only covered half the distance when she was abruptly stopped, leaving her standing in confusion.
The director rose from behind the monitor and addressed Liang Yan, “You’re rushing too much.”
“Too much?” Liang Yan asked, puzzled.
The director animatedly explained, gesturing with his hands, “You’re running as if you’re competing in a marathon. But remember, you’re running towards someone you deeply adore, your beloved husband. You’re going to him seeking praise and attention. Understand?”
Listening to the director’s guidance, Liang Yan glanced at her ex-husband, who was nearby, lost in thought.
“Let’s try it again,” the director instructed.
Liang Yan nodded and contemplated the director’s words. On her next run, she added a subtle gesture with her outstretched arms.
The director was satisfied with Liang Yan’s physical expression but felt her dialogue lacked the desired impact.
He emphasized, “When you say ‘My dear,’ it should be tender, alluring, and filled with deep affection. That’s how the audience will truly grasp your feelings for him. The way you said ‘My dear,’ someone unaware of the context would think you’re a creditor demanding payment.”
Reluctantly, Liang Yan mustered her courage and attempted to call her ex-husband with a coquettish and endearing tone, “My dear.” The moment the words left her lips, she felt a shiver down her spine, nearly causing herself to recoil.
She began to suspect that everyone involved, from the scriptwriters to the director, was intentionally testing her. However, she had committed to the role, signed the contract, and had no choice but to forge ahead. Regardless of her doubts, she would face the challenge head-on.
With the director’s command of “action” once more, Liang Yan extended her arms slightly and passionately called out “My dear,” as she rushed towards the person captured in the camera frame.
The scholar (Immortal) lifted the corners of his lips, taking a couple of steps forward and opening his arms to embrace the approaching young demon girl.
“My dear!” The young demon girl seemed surprised that the scholar (Immortal) would willingly catch her. With delight, she wrapped her arms around his waist and looked up, calling out again, “My dear.”
During the filming of the same scene, multiple camera angles were used for later editing. One angle captured both characters from head to toe, while another focused on Liang Yan’s pure and innocent face.
Her makeup was very light, with a natural blush on her cheeks from the exertion. She wore a radiant smile and breathed slightly heavily, her eyes shimmering with delight.
The scholar (Immortal) raised his hand and gently cradled the young demon girl’s face, his thumb lightly caressing her ear before he slowly lowered his head.
This was a pivotal scene in the drama, and everyone on set watched them intently.
Feeling the scholar’s (Immortal) warm breath against her cheek, the young demon girl blushed with shyness and joy. She shyly bit her lip and then leaned her cheek toward the scholar (Immortal).
The young demon girl slowly closed her eyes.
Come on, let’s kiss already, one more kiss and we’re done.
On the monitor, the scholar (Immortal) first held the back of the young demon girl’s head with his large hand, gradually moving closer to her cheek, and closed his eyes, as if about to kiss her. Then, he hesitated for a moment, opened his eyes, and looked at her.
The young demon girl’s eyes remained closed, her long eyelashes slightly trembling. The scholar’s (Immortal) gaze shifted to her rosy lips.
Liang Yan wondered why it was taking Lu Lincheng so long to give her a simple peck on the cheek. Suddenly, her lips felt wet.
“Um!” Liang Yan abruptly opened her eyes and saw Lu Lincheng’s enlarged handsome face.
With his eyes closed, the man’s lips tenderly brushed against hers.
Liang Yan was startled, her legs going weak, but Lu Lincheng held her waist, preventing her from falling.
Liang Yan initially wore a look of shock, but since she didn’t hear the director say “Cut,” she reluctantly wrinkled her nose, closed her eyes once again, and tightly clung to the hem of Lu Lincheng’s clothes.
She responded with an unmistakable awkwardness.
The director gazed at the monitor, a smile playing on his lips.
The young enchantress had assumed the scholar (immortal) would only plant a kiss on her cheek. Little did she expect him to lock his lips with hers. Her eyes widened in surprise at the initial contact, followed by a gradual nervousness as she closed her eyes in response. Each emotion was impeccably conveyed, capturing the perfect essence of the scene.
The camera finally settled on the scholar’s (immortal’s) garment, firmly clutched by the enchantress throughout.
