Halfway through the story, Li Nanjue’s expression contorted. He was well aware of how Zeng Lunian plotted against the Xu family and Hua Dance, but he pretended to be oblivious because their interests were aligned. Li Nanjue never realized that Zeng Lunian had human lives on his hands, and hundreds of them at that. When Li Nanjue thought of it, a chill ran down his spine.

Jiayin’s calm face twisted for a moment, and for a second, Li Nanjue felt as though he never really knew his wife all that well.
Qu Lian wished her son would divorce Zhan Jiayin, the scum of the world. Jiayin was a person who hung around a murderer.
Li Qianfei shook her head. “Mom didn’t know anything. Uncle Zeng hid it from us. Li Xiao, why didn’t you tell you earlier so we could’ve prepared.” Li Qianfei began to throw accusations at Li Xiao.
What if Li Qianfei’s mom accidentally said something? Would Li Qianfei be taken into custody as well?
Li Qianfei began to panic. The more she thought about it, the more words began to slip from her mouth. “Li Xiao! You just want to see us suffer! You hate us! You deliberately set Mom—”
Slap! Li Xiao slapped Li Qianfei’s face, bringing her into a state of confusion.
Li Xiao looked at Li Qianfei coldly. “How can you think I’ll want to help you after you called the police on me? I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you.”
On the way back, Li Xiao had learned that Li Qianfei had tried to report her for murder. The more Li Xiao looked at Li Qianfei’s aggrieved face, the more ridiculous things seemed to feel to her.
“It seems you ignored my warning. You must think I have no temper.”
Li Xiao stood up and phoned the sparrow spirit in front of everyone. “Post all the videos you’ve prepared on the internet. Let everyone see how Li Qianfei used her necklace to frame me.”
Li Qianfei’s pupils dilated. “No, you can’t!”
Li Qianfei leaped and tried to grab Li Xiao’s phone, but suddenly, a charm burst into a fireball and almost seared Li Qianfei. Li Qianfei screamed and stumbled back to grab a water bottle and douse the fire.
Li Xiao merely wanted to teach her a lesson, so she made a small fireball.
“Don’t post it! Are you trying to ruin our family’s reputation?” Qu Lian fumed.
At the time, Qu Lian had believed Li Qianfei and accused Li Xiao of stealing Li Qianfei’s necklace. If things were to be exposed, people would also blame Qu Lian. Qu Lian was so preoccupied with her worries that she didn’t even bother to ask about the fireball.
“Li Qianxing is still in jail. How good can our reputation be?” Li Xiao sneered. This cheap grandmother of hers was still trying to deceive people.

Li Nanjue inhaled a deep breath before raising his hand and striking Li Qianfei. His slap was merciless, and Li Qianfei’s head snapped to the side.
Tears cascaded from Li Qianfei’s eyes as she flattened her lips into a thin line. However, she didn’t dare to anger her father anymore. Li Xiao supposed Li Qianfei was still good at reading people’s emotions.
Li Xiao’s mood did not change even as she watched everything play out before her. It was already too late for Li Nanjue’s apologies.
Li Xiao had finished watching the play and had eaten her fill, so she decided to go back. This was not her home.
She walked to the door, lugging her suitcase behind her. As she was about to leave, she seemed to remember something and turned to Li Qianfei. “If I was in a good mood, I would have reminded you about Zeng Lunian. But I didn’t expect the police to come so quickly. It’s probably because you called them. Li Qianfei, you’re truly your mother’s daughter. It’s your own fault if your mother goes to jail.”
After pissing Li Qianfei off, Li Xiao strode away from the Li mansion, ignoring Qu Lian’s trailing curses.
“You vermin! Jinx!”
“You and your mother have ruined the Li family.”
Li Xiao shook her head. Just last year, Qu Lian was praising Li Qianfei for her good fortune.
